The ship docked at Victoria, BC at 11:00 and we got on a bus for a tour of the Butterfly Gardens and the Butchart Gardens. It was very interesting to see so many colorful butterfly species from around the world. But they would not pose for pictures! One large butterfly did sit on Leah's camera! There were a lot of plants native to the parts of the world from which each butterfly species came. It was all in an enclosed, climate controlled area.
The Butchart Gardens are fantastic, especially the Sunken Gardens and the Japanese Garden. Being still Spring a lot of the Summer flowers weren't blooming yet. We saw many varieties of colorful tulips, rhododenrons, azaleas, dafodils and other bulb flowers, and beautiful flowering trees. It was just fantaastic! On the way back to the ship the bus driver gave us some information on points of interest in Victoria. There are a lot of historical buildings with interesting archetecture. It would have been nice to have had a little more time in town. It was a beautiful day - clear and cool, but no wind.
Back on ship we saw a ventriloquist show which was excelent.
